Ch 4

Elara opened her eyes.

Morana's horns touched her own. Their horns clicked softly. A spark jumped. A thread of golden fire leapt from horn to horn. The bond pulsed. The heat deepened. Elara's breath shuddered. Her body trembled. Her soul surrendered.

Morana's tail moved. Slower. Deeper. More deliberate. Elara's back arched. Her hips met the coil. Her fingers dug into Morana's shoulders. Her nails bit. Her breath came in ragged gasps. Her soul flared. Her body shook.

"Yes," Morana whispered. "Let go. I have you. I always have you."

Elara shattered.

It was not a climax. It was a convergence. Her body convulsed. Her soul flared. The bond pulsed. Golden fire poured through her veins, warm, soothing, addictive. She cried out Morana's name. She arched. She trembled. She fell back against the stone, gasping, tears streaming down her face.

Morana caught her. She pressed her lips to Elara's temple. She pressed her lips to Elara's cheek. She pressed her lips to Elara's mouth. "Good," she murmured. "So good. The third cycle is complete. But the claiming is not done."

Elara's breath was ragged. Her body ached. Her soul hummed. She looked up at Morana, eyes wide, vulnerable, changed. "What more is there?"

Morana's wings folded tight. Her tail coiled tighter. Her eyes burned with something that looked dangerously like reverence. She leaned in. She kissed Elara. It was slow. Deep. Consuming. It tasted of smoke and spice and something profoundly sweet. It tasted of forever.

"There is the offering," Morana whispered against her lips. "The joining. The becoming."

Elara's breath shuddered. She reached up. She touched Morana's horns. They were warm. Smooth. Real. She traced the curve. She felt the pulse beneath. She felt the bond answer.

"Yes," Elara whispered. "Yes. I accept."

Morana's wings flared wide. Her tail uncoiled. She rose. She pulled Elara with her. They stood. They faced each other. The bond pulsed. The heat deepened. The air grew thick with the scent of ozone and crushed roses and something primal.

Morana's hand slid down. She unfastened her own shadow-silk. It fell away. Her futa anatomy was fully revealed now. Thick. Heavy. Marked by violet veins that pulsed in time with their hearts. It was beautiful. Terrifying. Irresistible.

Elara's breath shuddered. She reached out. Her fingers trembled. They brushed. They curled. They held.

Morana's eyes closed. Her wings folded tight. Her tail coiled around Elara's waist. Her horns lowered until their tips brushed Elara's forehead. "Ready," she murmured. "Always ready. Always you."

Elara's breath shuddered. She nodded. "Yes."

Morana stepped forward. She pressed herself against Elara. The heat was overwhelming. The weight was intoxicating. The bond flared. The soul pulsed. The fire poured.

Elara gasped. Her back arched. Her fingers dug into Morana's shoulders. Her nails bit. Her breath came in ragged gasps. Her soul flared gold. Her body shook.

Morana thrust.

Slow. Deliberate. Perfect.

Elara cried out. It was not a sound of pain. It was a sound of completion. Of convergence. Of a soul finally home. Her thighs trembled. Her hips met Morana's. Her back arched. Her fingers dug. Her breath came in ragged gasps. Her soul flared. Her body shook.

"Yes," Morana whispered. "Yes. Let go. I have you. I always have you."

Elara shattered.

It was not a climax. It was a becoming. Her body convulsed. Her soul flared. The bond pulsed. Golden fire poured through her veins, warm, soothing, addictive. She cried out Morana's name. She arched. She trembled. She fell back against Morana's chest, gasping, tears streaming down her face.

Morana caught her. She pressed her lips to Elara's temple. She pressed her lips to Elara's cheek. She pressed her lips to Elara's mouth. "Good," she murmured. "So good. The claiming is complete. The bond is sealed. The consort is claimed."

Elara's breath was ragged. Her body ached. Her soul hummed. She looked up at Morana, eyes wide, vulnerable, changed. "What now?"

"Now," Morana whispered, her voice thick with devotion, "we wait. We rest. We grow. The cycle will come again. The bond will deepen. The claiming will never end. You are mine, Elara. And I am yours. Forever."

Elara's breath shuddered. She reached up. She touched Morana's horns. They were warm. Smooth. Real. She traced the curve. She felt the pulse beneath. She felt the bond answer.

"Yes," Elara whispered. "Yes. I accept."

And in the crypt of Saint Clement's, beneath a moon the color of tarnished silver, two souls became one.

They came on a Tuesday.
